H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed said" UAE is part of the Arab world, and the case of the Palestinian People is our case and the land is our land and the enemy is our enemy".
After meeting the late president, Yasser Arafat, in October 1981 H.H. confirmed that Emirates will continue to support the Palestinian cause. The Palestinian cause is ours and it is the case of all Arabs. UAE fully supports the Palestinian struggle and it will continue to provide all kinds of support until the Palestinian People attain all their rights and their land."
In his speech at the 33rd anniversary of the National Day of UAE, His Highness renewed UAE support of the national rights of the Palestinian People. In this context he called the Palestinian people to unify their word on this tough stage and requested the international community especially the USA, as it is the first patron of peace in the Middle East, to effectively move by resuming the peace process in the Middle East to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian land. The aim is to achieve justice and long-lasting peace based on international legitimate resolutions.
In this announcement he said: “USA’s role, as main patron of the peace process, requires more pressure on Israel. We and all Arab parties who have direct relation to the Arab – Israeli struggle seek peace in the region".
The strong brotherhood relation between the Peoples of the two countries is regularly expressed in the annual messages sent by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the United Nations on the World Day of Consolidation with the Palestinian People on 29th November of each year. Such messages confirm the support of the UAE Government and People to the legal struggle of the Palestinian People to obtain their freedom and independence. In the last speech on 29th November 2006 sent to the ambassador Paul Padagy, Chief of the Committee concerned with the Palestinian People’s practice of its irrevocable rights, H.H. said:
"The Palestinian People currently passes the most difficult stage of its history as a result of the destructive invasion by Israel lately into all the lands it occupies, especially the Gaza Strip, in which its people still suffer the great violations of international humanitarian laws such as torture, siege, famine and violence. This has resulted in the massacre of Bit Hanon; the killing and injury of hundreds of civilians, most being women and children; the imprisonment of innocent people including members of the Palestinian Government and, the destruction of houses, properties and utilities. It is regarded as one of the most treacherous acts and is similar to country terrorism and war crimes and must be punished by international law as there is no excuse for its justification."
H.H. support is not limited to the political aspect. It also includes the field of charity and assistance to the Palestinian People. This has been expressed in the form of many gifts given to Palestinian People including the center of Sheikh Khalifa for vocational qualification (Nablus 1999) which provides training programs and qualifies the handicapped . It includes work shops of all vocational fields . It also presents loans for small projects without interest. It also services the handicapped in villages under the CBR program which aims to improve the conditions of the special needs in their places of living. |
