Speech of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed AL Nahyan

We are concerned about the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and are looking forward to be a step towards more steps of a withdrawal from all Palestinian and Arab occupied land. This will enable the Palestinian people to build its independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital, within the framework of international legitimate principles and resolutions and international peace initiatives. Among these are the Road Map and Arab Peace Initiative, which are considered the real framework of justice and comprehensive peace for the Palestinian situation and for solving the conflict in the region of the Middle East. Our initiative to build a city in Rafah, on the ruins of one of the Israeli colonies, is considered a contribution from our side to reduce the sufferings of the struggling Palestinian People and which contributes to the effect of many previous projects which were set up by us on the Palestinian land.”

" The state of the United Arab Emirates, as you well know, confirms for you its support. Today we are in the south of Gaza Strip to share with you your happiness and put with you the first stone in the place which was selected to be title of destruction. Today we put the foundation stone of the city of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed in Gaza as a gift from His Highness to the Palestinian people. We came today to share your happiness in ruling out future occupation of a dear part of your land. We support you in building a hope and a future which you and we always dream of.

"I want to start my speech with what I see here in a signboard saying, from the city of Sheikh Zayed in Bit Lahiya to city of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed in Rafah”. In fact there is a part which was not mentioned which is, from Jenin to Jerusalem to Bit Lahiya to Rafah. They are all traces of Sheikh Zayed and his sons on the Palestinian lands"
